A "Working" Campus

The majority of your classes won't be at the LIU Brooklyn campus, they'll be at Steiner Studios—the largest and most sophisticated studio complex in the United States outside of Hollywood. On your way to class, you'll be walking the grounds where current films and television shows are filmed.

Opened in November, 2004 on a 15-acre site at the historic Brooklyn Navy Yard, Steiner Studios provided New York City with its first Hollywood-style (and scale) production and support facility.

Designed to the specifications of producers and facility operators in Los Angeles, and supported by top New York artistic talent, Steiner Studios is a full-service, state-of-the-art “production factory,” equipped for start-to-finish production of major motion pictures, independent films, television, broadcast commercials and music videos. Steiner Studios offers five soundstages—including the largest (27,000 square feet) on the East Coast— ample office and support space, and parking for 1,000 vehicles. Addressing the ongoing, unmet demand for film and television production facilities in New York, Steiner Studios has helped to boost NYC’s position as a world-class entertainment production center.

Most of our students move to Brooklyn, home to Steiner Studios and the LIU Brooklyn campus. With access to the subway, buses, and CitiBike, students are able to get to class AND immerse themselves in all the vibrant neighborhoods of New York’s hippest borough. Whatever your interests are, Brooklyn has something for everyone from art museums like the Brooklyn Museum, sports and entertainment venues like the Barclays Center, movie theaters like the Alamo Drafthouse, and a slew of buzzed about restaurants. Every day in Brooklyn is a new adventure, perfect for inspiring the next generation of storytellers.
